From Alignment to Co-Creation: How the i2X Annual Meeting Shapes the Next Phase of EHDS Implementation

Once a year, the whole i2X consortium gets in the same room — partners, advisory boards, demonstrator teams, the people running the work packages — to take stock of what has shifted and decide what comes next.

This year's meeting was less about reporting and more about co-creation. The shape of the next implementation phase was built in the room, by the people who will deliver it.

The best plans are not handed down. They are made in the open, by the people who will execute them.

What we agreed on

• Co-creation methodology — the approach developed by the Greek partners cluster will be tested in Madeira and then generalised across other demonstration sites
• Demonstrator readiness — a sharper, shared definition of what 'ready' means for each of the five EEHRxF priority areas
• Stakeholder engagement — operationalising the i2X-PHASES framework across all work packages, not just dissemination
• Cross-initiative coordination — confirmed joint sessions with Xt-EHR, xShare and the wider community throughout the next reporting period

Where the energy was

Two themes came up more than any others. First, the move from a single readiness model to a living one — something that gets refined as evidence comes back from the demonstrators, not something carved in stone in year one. Second, the role of the Special Interest Groups as the bridge between the project and the much larger community that will eventually have to implement the EEHRxF.

Next phase, briefly

The next twelve months are about depth, not breadth. Fewer headlines, more working systems. The demonstrators step up, the testing programme intensifies, and the SIGs become the engine of how lessons get back into the rest of the ecosystem.
